General Practice

Our Doctors

Our doctors provide compassionate and evidence-based medical care across a broad range of health concerns. We take the time to understand your symptoms, medical history and individual healthcare needs.

Our doctors can assist with acute and chronic conditions, preventative health, family medicine, women’s and men’s health, children’s health, mental health, medication management and coordination of specialist care

Child Health Care

Marviecare provides healthcare for babies, children and adolescents in a comfortable and family-friendly environment.

Our doctors can assist with childhood illnesses, developmental concerns, growth monitoring, immunisations, skin conditions, respiratory problems and other common childhood health concerns.

We also work with parents to provide education, preventative healthcare and appropriate referrals when additional assessment is required.

Wound Care

Professional assessment and ongoing wound management

Our team provides assessment and management of acute and chronic wounds with the goal of promoting healing, reducing complications and helping patients return to normal activities.

Care may include wound assessment, dressing selection and changes, monitoring for infection, post-operative wound management and coordination with other healthcare professionals where required.

More complex or non-healing wounds may require additional investigation or specialist referral.

Pregnancy

Supporting you throughout pregnancy and beyond

Our pregnancy care service provides medical support throughout pregnancy, helping mothers make informed decisions about their health and the health of their baby.

Care may include antenatal consultations, routine monitoring, investigation and screening referrals, pregnancy health education, management of pregnancy-related concerns and planning for birth and postnatal care.

We aim to provide continuity, reassurance and personalised care throughout your pregnancy journey.

Birth Care

Individualised care for mother and baby

Our maternity services aim to provide safe, respectful and individualised care surrounding childbirth.

Depending on your individual circumstances and your doctor’s scope of practice, care may include birth planning, medical management around delivery, coordination with your maternity team and postnatal follow-up.

Our focus is the health, safety and wellbeing of both mother and baby throughout this important stage of care.

Weight Loss Management

Medical support for sustainable weight management

Weight management involves much more than simply dieting. Our doctors can assess factors that may contribute to weight gain and help develop an individualised management plan.

This may include reviewing nutrition, physical activity, sleep, medications, medical conditions and other lifestyle factors. Where clinically appropriate, your doctor can also discuss available medical weight-management treatments and referrals to other healthcare professionals.

Our goal is to support sustainable improvements in health rather than focusing only on the number on the scales.

Immunisations

Protecting you, your family and the community

Marviecare Medical Centre provides vaccinations across different stages of life in accordance with current Australian recommendations and individual clinical circumstances.

Vaccination services may include routine childhood immunisations, adult vaccinations, seasonal influenza vaccination and other recommended vaccines.

Your healthcare professional can review your vaccination history and discuss which vaccinations may be appropriate for you

Venesection

Therapeutic venesection in a clinical environment

Therapeutic venesection involves the controlled removal of a prescribed quantity of blood and may be recommended for certain medical conditions, such as haemochromatosis or polycythaemia.

At Marviecare, the procedure is performed by appropriately trained healthcare professionals following medical assessment or referral.

Patients are monitored throughout the procedure, and individual requirements will be discussed before treatment.

Iron Infusion

Treatment for iron deficiency when clinically appropriate

An intravenous iron infusion delivers iron directly into the bloodstream and may be recommended when oral iron is unsuitable, ineffective or insufficient.

Before proceeding, your doctor will assess your medical history and relevant blood test results to determine whether an iron infusion is appropriate.

Our clinical team provides monitoring during and following the infusion in accordance with appropriate clinical protocols.

Sexual Health

Confidential and respectful sexual healthcare

Sexual health is an important part of overall health and wellbeing. We provide a confidential, respectful and non-judgemental environment where patients can discuss sexual health concerns with a healthcare professional.

Services may include sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening and management, contraception advice, reproductive health discussions, sexual dysfunction concerns and appropriate investigation or referral.

Mental Health

Support for your mental and emotional wellbeing

Our doctors provide assessment, treatment and ongoing support for a range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, sleep difficulties and other emotional or psychological concerns.

Your GP can discuss your symptoms, assess how they are affecting your daily life and develop an appropriate management plan. Where appropriate, this may include a Mental Health Treatment Plan, medication, lifestyle strategies or referral to a psychologist, psychiatrist or other healthcare professional.

If you need urgent mental health assistance or are in immediate danger, call 000.

ECG/ Heart Testing

Assessment of your heart’s electrical activity

An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a quick, non-invasive test that records the electrical activity of your heart.

Your doctor may recommend an ECG to investigate symptoms such as palpitations, chest discomfort, dizziness or an irregular heartbeat, or as part of the assessment and monitoring of certain medical conditions.

Small electrodes are placed on the chest and limbs to record the heart’s electrical signals. Your healthcare professional will explain the next steps based on the findings and your clinical presentation.

Spirometry

Lung function testing for respiratory health

Spirometry is a breathing test used to measure how much air you can breathe in and out and how quickly you can exhale.

It may form part of the assessment or monitoring of respiratory conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

During the test, you will be asked to breathe into a specialised device while following instructions from a trained healthcare professional.

Hearing Test

Professional hearing assessment

Audiometric testing assesses your ability to hear sounds at different frequencies and intensities.

Hearing assessments may be useful for people experiencing hearing changes and may also form part of certain occupational or employment medical assessments.

Following testing, your results can be reviewed and further investigation or referral recommended where appropriate.

Bedside Scan

Convenient point-of-care imaging to support clinical assessment

Bedside ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique that allows a healthcare practitioner to obtain real-time images at the point of care as part of a clinical assessment.

It may be used to assist with the assessment and monitoring of selected conditions, depending on the clinical situation and the practitioner’s scope of practice.

During the scan, ultrasound gel is applied to the area being examined and a handheld probe is gently moved over the skin to produce real-time images. Bedside ultrasound may complement your clinical examination but does not necessarily replace a formal diagnostic ultrasound when one is required.

Services may include wound care and suturing, suture removal, skin lesion assessment and removal, biopsies, cryotherapy, abscess drainage, ingrown toenail procedures and other minor procedures where clinically appropriate.

Your doctor will assess your condition and discuss the procedure, potential risks, aftercare and follow-up requirements before proceeding.

Pathology Centre

Support for your mental and emotional wellbeing

Our doctors provide assessment, treatment and ongoing support for a range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, sleep difficulties and other emotional or psychological concerns.

Your GP can discuss your symptoms, assess how they are affecting your daily life and develop an appropriate management plan. Where appropriate, this may include a Mental Health Treatment Plan, medication, lifestyle strategies or referral to a psychologist, psychiatrist or other healthcare professional.
